Crete's Pierrikakis Heralds €4.5B Investment Push and New Airport Vision

Minister Christos Pierrakakis opened the "Greece Talks" conference on March 13 in Crete by proposing that Heraklion's existing airport could evolve into a new, smaller-scale version of Athens International Airport. This ambitious vision aims to position Crète as an autonomous economic engine capable of generating €24 billion annually from tourism and contributing five percent to Greece’s GDP through targeted development projects worth 450 million euros in total investment value so far this year.
