Mojtaba Khamenei narrowly survived a February 28 airstrike on Iran's leadership compound that killed his father Ali Khamenei. According to leaked audio from March 13 by Mazaher Hosseini, Mojtaba escaped due to briefly stepping outside just before impact and was the intended target of the attack which also claimed several senior officials but spared him brother Mostafa who survived with minor injuries while being shielded by debris alongside his wife Haddad.
