Former Olympic snowboarding champion Emmanuel Perathoner won his first Paralympic medal by taking the top spot at this year's Cortina d'Ampezzo Games after suffering a severe knee injury that forced him to retire from able-bodied competition in 2018 and compete as an athlete with motor disabilities. The Italian native, who previously represented Italy on five continents including Sochi (2014) and Pyeongchang (2018), has now added gold medalist status at the Paralympics to his resume after deciding never again in life not give up despite facing a serious accident during training years ago.
